As the motion graphic designer for the Invest Canada 21 project, my first step was to consult with the Head of Communications for CVCA. Before jumping into any software I wanted to ensure that I had an in-depth understanding of the project’s scope, needs, and direction prior to the project’s initiation

After consulting with the Head of communications, I began to create rough drafts of each video in Premier Pro with the footage that was provided by each individual that participated in the videos. Once the rough edits were approved by the Head of communications, I began to search for stock and B-Roll footage that was appropriate for each video. The collected stock and B-Roll Footage was then incorporated into the first rough draft for each video.
While working on the second drafts within Premier Pro I needed to pay attention to the audio of every video clip that was provided. Each video clip had different audio levels that I adjusted in order to maintain a similar level through each of the videos. Maintaining similar audio levels across different clips creates a sense that the video clips belong together. Once the audio of each video clip was adjusted, the DeNoise effect in Premier Pro was applied to the audio in order to rid of any humming or background noise that may have been present.

The second draft was then exported from Premier Pro and received approval from the Head of Communications. After receiving approval for each second draft, I then began to collect other assets for the videos. I collected news articles, logos, background music, Invest Canada 21's brand guidelines, and information needed to create vector graphs.
Before continuing into after affects I moved onto illustrator to create the graphs, icons, and illustrations that were needed for each video.

Once the vector assets were completed and organized in illustrator I brought the exported video from Premier Pro straight in After Effects.

In After Effects I had to begin thinking about creative ways to connect the information that was being mentioned, along with the new articles that needed to be displayed. I approached this revealing of information through clicking and or expanding windows within the videos. This was done through the scale transformation, in partnership with animated masks.
